After the Vatican ruled in March 2021 that the church could not bless same-sex partnerships, hundreds of catholic churches in Austria of the Priests’ Initiative movement decided to fly the rainbow flag in solidarity with the LGBTQI+ community.
In the following days some of the rainbows were stolen and even burnt down in Vorarlberg, Austria. Shocked responses lead to the rise of voices against the acts of hate and for the community.
